SPECIAL MEETING
March 3, 2021
The Clayton Ridge Board of Directors held a special meeting on March 2, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. in the Middle School Conference Room, Guttenberg.
Call to Order/Roll Call
Vice-President Christine Aulwes called the meeting to order at 12:35 PM. Other members in attendance were Ellen Johnson, Jason Reimer, Alicia Helle, Mike Finnegan, and Kathy Ihde. John Heying was absent.
Also in attendance were Superintendent Shane Wahls, Principal Laura Bilden, Dean of Students Wade Marlow, and Board Secretary David Schlueter.
Approval of Agenda
Motion by Reimer and second by Finnegan to approve the agenda. Motion carried unanimously.
Reports
Discussion was held on gym requests for youth activities; setting a work session to review construction bids; mask policies and effects on quarantining requirements.
Consent Agenda
Motion by Finnegan and second by Ihde to approve the minutes of the February 3, 2021 regular board meeting and work session. Motion carried unanimously.
New Business
- Employment
Motion by Finnegan and second by Johnson to approve the hiring of: Vincent Schmelzer as Assistant Coach-Girls Track for the 2020-21 school year; Barry Armstrong as Assistant Coach-Football for the 2021-22 school year; Jonathon Klaes as High School Science Teacher for 2021-22 school year; and Bridget Schaufenbuel as High School Math Teacher for 2021-22 school year. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Reimer and second by Ihde to accept resignations of Teacher Associates Carissa Gelinas and Erin Bries. Motion carried unanimously.
- Lane Change Requests
Motion by Reimer and second by Helle to approve lane change requests for Karen Reichard, Margo Friedlein, and Tadd Schutte. Motion carried unanimously.
- Open Enrollments
Motion by Helle and second by Reimer to approve open enrollment applications for Zoey Hyde to Central; Danica and Riley Errthum to Western Dubuque; and Joshua and David Chuyma to Mount Pleasant. Motion carried unanimously.
- Out-of-State Field Trips
Motion by Finnegan and second by Reimer to approve out-of-state field trips for the Senior Class to Florida and the 8th Grade class to Wisconsin Dells. Ayes: Aulwes, Reimer, Helle, Johnson, Finnegan, Ihde. Nays: Johnson. Motion carried.
- Volunteer Agreement
Motion by Reimer and second by Helle to approve Erin Schmelzer as a Volunteer supervisor of open gym in Garnavillo. Motion carried unanimously.
- Facility Use Agreement
Motion by Reimer and second by Johnson to approve a facility use agreement with Garnavillo Boosters to use school grounds for fireworks in Garnavillo on July 3, 2021. Motion carried unanimously.
7.BLDD Update – Kitchen Remodel
Damien Schlitt and Greg Butler attended via Zoom and answered questions regarding the scope of the project to remodel the Guttenberg kitchen and MultiPurpose Room.
