SPECIAL MEETING

April 26, 2023

 

The Clayton Ridge Board of Directors held a special meeting on April 26, 2023 at 5:15 p.m. in the High School Library, Guttenberg.

 

Call to Order/Roll Call

President John Heying called the meeting to order at 5:15 PM.  Other members in attendance were Mike Finnegan, Jessica Bittner, Ellen Johnson, Jason Reimer, and Christine Aulwes. Alicia Helle arrived later.

 

Also in attendance were Superintendent Shane Wahls and Board Secretary David Schlueter.

 

Approval of Agenda

Motion by Finnegan and second by Bittner to approve the agenda.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Communications

Wahls reported on the status of the baseball field and changes to the schedule; location of retirement celebrations; drill team participation numbers.

New Business

  1. Employment

Motion by Bittner and second by Finnegan to accept resignations of Athletic Director Shane Wahls, Teacher Jill Stannard, and Teacher Tami Palmer; to approve transfer of Laurie Smith from Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach to Jr High Volleyball Coach; and to hire Abrianna Moore as Assistant Coach-Softball. Motion carried unanimously.

 

  1. CREA Master Contract

Motion by Finnegan and second by Johnson to approve the master contract with Clayton Ridge Education Association. Motion carried unanimously.

 

  1. Individual Contracts – Teachers, Coaches

Motion by Johnson and second by Helle to approve individual contracts with teachers and coaches as listed. Motion carried unanimously.

 

  1. OPAA Contract

Motion by Aulwes and second by Johnson to approve the contract for food service management company OPAA. Motion carried unanimously.

 

  1. 28E Agreement with NICC

Motion by Aulwes and second by Bittner to approve a 28E Agreement with NICC to provide alternative school for 2023-24. Motion carried unanimously.

 

  1. Open Enrollments

Motion by Finnegan and second by Johnson to deny 1 application to the Iowa Virtual Academy. Motion carried unanimously.

 

  1. Closed Session – Superintendent Evaluation

Motion by Helle and second by Bittner to enter closed session at 6:10 pm per Iowa Code 21.5 (1)i. to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion by Finnegan and second by Helle to enter open session at 7:36 pm. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Adjournment

Motion by Bittner and second by Reimer to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
