The following students will be gone with me next Wednesday morning to go talk to the 5th graders about joining band. They will miss 1st, 2nd, and 3rd hour. They will be responsible for asking you for their work.

Upper Iowa Conference Cross Country Meet 

Thursday, October 17th, 2024

 

The boys’ varsity Cross Country team earned 4th place at the Upper Iowa Conference Meet, hosted by Central at the Elkader Golf Course.  The team score was compiled from the times of Jesus Lara-Jasper, Ethan Backes, Fernando Flores, Russell Chmelar, and Leland Mueller.  The top fifteen runners received medals at Conference, with Jesus Lara-Jasper finishing 9th and Ethan Backes securing 14th place.  Fernando Flores earned an honorable mention for his 18th-place finish, placing him in the top twenty.

 

The JV team achieved 3rd place, with team members Tate Armstrong, Luke Cook, Anthony Sandoval, Kasey Thiese, and Aiden Schoof.  Four JV runners medaled: Tate Armstrong, who finished 10th with a personal best time, Luke Cook in 12th, Anthony Sandoval in 13th, and Kasey Thiese in 15th.

 

The middle school boys secured a 3rd place team finish. Team members included Cruz Reimer, Kolten Willenborg, Parker Hefel, and Donte Howell. Cruz Reimer earned a spot on the podium with a 12th-place finish.

 

The girls’ varsity team has been steadily improving their overall times this season, culminating in a 6th place finish at the Conference Meet. Several runners achieved personal bests throughout the season. The team’s score was based on Hinkley Simon, Audrey Dickson, Hailey Gaul, Paige Thomas, and Pfeiffer Horns. Hinkley Simon earned an honorable mention with a 16th place finish.

 

The middle school girls finished in 6th place as a team. The runners were Rachel Westhoff, Rosie Williams, Stormy Patzner, and Blair Hyde. Rachel Westhoff led the team, placing 25th overall.

HS Activities:

Football @ home vs. North Cedar, 7 PM

 

 

MS Activities:

Middle School Girls Basketball practice will begin Monday, October 21.

 

Athletes will ride the shuttle to Garnavillo after school for practice.  Practice will end at 5:30.  A shuttle will take kids who need a ride to Guttenberg back the HS/MS.  Athletes can also be picked up at the Garnavillo gym at 5:30.  

Practices are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays.  NO PRACTICE ON WEDNESDAYS.  Coaches will have a more detailed practice schedule with specific days off.
